The Static Age

Hello again

Hi all,

It's been an interesting few years since our last update. We hope you've all been safe and sound. We also hope that if you're an American, you're registered and planning to vote (seriously, please do this).

Despite the apparent decline of western civilization (and not the fun punk rock kind), we've got some reasonably good news: we're up to things again. The first bit to announce is this split 7" we're putting out on Halloween with Love Equals Death:

Thanks to Stefan over at SBÄM for the art (and also for putting it out, along with his US counterpart Adam @ Say-10).

We'll have two songs on it, our own "Recover" and also a cover of The Chameleons's "The Fan and the Bellows." The former was revived from a spate of recordings we actually started in 2015/2016. We'd played versions of the song on tours as early as 2014, but this version was actually recorded during Andrew's own process of recovery following a not-great accident (involving a distracted driver looking in their back seat, missing a stop sign, and driving into him -- it was a rough year). It came together quickly, but we ended up liking the demo vocals so much we kept the originals and built the song around them (there are also more where this came from, but that's a story for later).

As for the latter song, it's a classic and we've played it on a few tours by now. We also kinda wish we wrote it, but alas, The Chameleons beat us by a few decades.

Preorders can now be placed right over here from Highwires or via Say-10 if you're in North America or for those of you in Europe, grab the preorder at SBÄM's webshop
