So, we're two-and-a-half weeks into our three-and-a-half-week tour of Europe, smack in the middle of a lazy morning of hanging out in Dresden, Germany, and we thought it high time for an update on all fronts.
First off, the tour has been amazing thus far. We've played a bunch of shows throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria and a one-off out in Slovenia. We've had a blast in so many places already – Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Kiel, Basel and many more – and we're looking forward to a slew of special shows ahead (details below). We've also had our manager-extraordinaire, Felix, filming a whole bunch of the shows/inter-show nonsense for a live compilation (details also below).

SPLIT RELEASE + PUNKNEWS.ORG STREAM
Our split single with Germany's Featuring Yourself (also our tour partners for a big chunk of the trip we're on) is now out in both Europe and the US. Maybe you caught the PunkNews.org live stream of the 4-song release last week, but if not, you can listen to one track – our "Mistakes Worth Making" – over on Soundcloud! You can also find it on iTunes, Spotify, and all the usual places – or buy the instant download and/or limited 7" + download directly from Highwires.
The European version also includes our cover of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," by the way, which Andrew also performed on Radio Hagen (107.7FM) in Hagen, Germany just hours after we flew into Dusseldorf. Once we get access to a solid wifi connection, you'll be able to behold the exhaustion and jet lag over on Vimeo.
LIVE VIDEOS
Speaking of Vimeo, we'll be doing the same with bits and pieces of the live recordings we've been amassing throughout the trip. We've got hours and hours of footage at this point, so there's plenty to see. Plus, we'll be splicing footage from the trip together and setting it to "Mistakes Worth Making" (our half of the split single mentioned above) for a live-ish video to be released in June.
MIXED SIGNALS LIMITED CASSETTE RELEASE
In conjunction with our friend Benja over at 100Kiloherz, we released a super-limited version of Mixed Signals (which, if you're unfamiliar, can be read about here) on hand-painted cassettes. Most are being sold on our trip, but we've held a few copies for sale via the Highwires Store.
SPECIAL SHOWS ONCOMING!
This last week of the tour includes a number of noteworthy shows. Details:
- APRIL 30th (TONIGHT): Mercies (belated) Release Party + More LPs Available in Braunschweig at Cafe Riptide – We'll be celebrating the vinyl release of Mercies with Riptide Recordings in their home record store (and will have another batch of the silk-screened LPs on white vinyl available!).
- MAY 1st: FLIX Anniversary Show in Stuttgart – We'll be playing with the Ataris, Featuring Yourself and others in honor of 5 years of Flix Records – our first label home in Europe. You can get tickets over at EasyTicket (search for the Ataris).
- MAY 3rd: A special acoustic set at 100Kiloherz, who we've worked with on various cassette releases (the Slingshot Dakota split release and the brand new Mixed Signals cassette mentioned above).
- MAY 4th: EX-FEST – we're super stoked to be rounding out the tour with AC4, The Flatliners, Riverboat Gamblers and many more before our overnight drive back to the airport! Get tickets.
SECRET RECORDING PROJECT…
Not much to say about this now, but we've got a few hours booked in-studio with Rezzo from the Satellite Year on the last day of our trip to co-record a classic cover, all in the spirit of charity. Details TBA!
